About WealthEQ
What is WealthEQ?
WealthEQ, LLC is an independent, veteran-owned Registered Investment Advisor based in Colorado, providing private wealth management, outsourced chief investment officer services, and captive insurance investment management to high-net-worth individuals, families, and institutions.
Is WealthEQ a fiduciary?
Yes. WealthEQ is a Registered Investment Advisor and acts as a fiduciary at all times, which means it is legally obligated to act in the client's best interest.
Where is WealthEQ located and what areas does it serve?
WealthEQ is based in Erie, Colorado, in the Denver metropolitan area, and serves clients throughout Colorado and nationally.
What are WealthEQ's account minimums?
Personal CFO requires $1 million in investable assets. Outsourced CIO requires $25 million. Captive insurance investment management requires a $1 million portfolio. Multi-family office services through 2SIX Partners are available by invitation.
How much does WealthEQ charge?
Personal CFO is 0.80% of starting account value up to $5 million, 0.75% above $5 million, and 0.70% above $10 million, with an $8,000 minimum starting annual fee. Outsourced CIO begins at 0.500% in year one and steps down to 0.400% by year three at the entry breakpoint, with a $125,000 minimum annual starting fee. Captive insurance is 0.70%, 0.55%, and 0.40% across the same breakpoints, with a $7,000 minimum. The full schedule is published on the fees page.
Does the fee increase as my portfolio grows?
No. The fee is calculated on the account value at the inception of the relationship rather than current balances, so market appreciation does not increase it. It is recalculated only when the assets we manage or advise on change materially for a reason other than performance — such as transferring in a portfolio from another manager, an inheritance, or a business sale. The threshold is 10% of the current fee base over a rolling twelve-month period, so routine saving and dollar-cost averaging do not trigger a change. Inflation adjustments begin after year five for Personal CFO and after year three for Outsourced CIO.
What happens to my fee if I add or withdraw a large amount?
The fee base is recalculated when additions or permanent withdrawals exceed 10% of the current fee base over a rolling twelve-month period. Because the published schedule is lower at higher breakpoints, a large addition often means a lower percentage applied to the entire relationship. Routine saving, dollar-cost averaging, and routine retirement distributions fall below the threshold and do not change the fee.
Does WealthEQ earn commissions or sell products?
No. WealthEQ receives no commissions, no revenue sharing, and no compensation from product providers. It is compensated solely by client fees.
Is financial planning included or charged separately?
Financial planning is included in the Personal CFO fee at no additional cost.
Who is behind WealthEQ?
Mike Corbett, CFA, CFP, CTFA, MBA, is the founder and principal. He served more than ten years as a U.S. Navy SEAL, including at SEAL Team 6, and previously worked at Bessemer Trust, Innovest Portfolio Solutions, and GE.
What is an Outsourced CIO and do I need one?
An Outsourced CIO is a fiduciary that assumes responsibility for investment governance — policy design, allocation, manager selection, risk oversight, and consolidated reporting — on behalf of a family or family office. WealthEQ provides OCIO services to families and family offices only, not to foundations, endowments, or other institutions. It suits families that have outgrown a single advisor but do not want to hire internal investment staff.
Do you manage investments for captive insurance companies?
Yes. WealthEQ provides discretionary investment management to captive insurance companies with portfolios greater than $1 million, using a liability-driven approach that matches assets to expected claims and respects domicile admitted-asset rules.
What is the relationship between WealthEQ, 2SIX Partners, and Arete 6?
They are three separate legal entities. WealthEQ is the registered investment advisor. 2SIX Partners is a multi-family office platform. Arete 6 delivers tactical leadership experiences and provides no investment advisory services. Mike Corbett is a founder or co-founder of all three.
Can I keep my current advisors and custodians?
Yes, particularly under the Outsourced CIO engagement, which is designed to provide fiduciary oversight above your existing relationships rather than replace them.
How do I verify WealthEQ's registration and disclosures?
Form ADV Part 2A and 2B are available on this site and through the SEC's Investment Adviser Public Disclosure system at adviserinfo.sec.gov.
How do I get started?
Schedule a discovery call. It is a straightforward conversation about your situation, with no obligation, to determine whether the relationship is a fit.
